Welcome Autumn

With the Autumnal equinox coming up on Sunday (22nd September) there is definitely a marked temperature drop here in South East England and lots of rain. Whilst I have so far resisted turning on the storage heating, the fluffy slippers and cosy jumpers are absolutely out and the comfort food cravings kicking in. Nights in, snuggled under a duvet watching films on the sofa are on the cards followed by weekends stirring up pots of soup and baking bread.

I’m sharing with you some recipes I’ve come across today that have really got me excited for the autumnal days ahead!

  1. Yay! I’m looking forward to autumn! The recipes look great!

  2. Autumn is my most favorite season. I was born in autumn. 😀

We’re on the same vibe tonight – I love fall and we’ve started making soups around here. 😉
Wow, homemade sriracha, I must try this! We use it on everything.

Your beetroot soup just made me feel snuggly just looking at it! Nothing better is there?
Yes, I’m really excited to try the sriracha, I have loads and loads of chilli’s growing so it’s perfect! 😀

I wish I had time to make all of those, Poppy, especially the jam. They just look gorgeous.

I’m actually jealous about the fluffy slipper, jumpers, and watching films snuggled under a duvet! In North Carolina it’s still hot and my air conditioning broke yesterday. I’m now trying to sleep in the living room under a fan. Autumn can’t come soon enough for me!

This might be my favourite cooking season…. it’s a tie with spring anyway! We made a butternut squash, brown butter and sage risotto the other day which tasted just like Autumn!

  7. These recipes look great, home made sriracha? Cool!!
I have decided to hold off taking the cold weather clothes out until summer is officially over, but it’s getting so chilli in the morning, I’m in south east England too! Brrrr 🙂

    • Poppy says:

I think my house is particularly cold, I have to have a jumper or something on!! Got that, I don’t want to leave the warm bed syndrome this morning!
I know, home made sriracha how cool is that, I have an out of control chilli plant on my windowsill so will be the perfect use for them! 😀

While autumn is coming based on the calendar it doesn’t feel like it yet here. While it is cooling off a little it is still hot during the days. That hasn’t stopped me from making soups and all things pumpkin and cinnamon! Let autumn come….especially since my youngest turns three on the 22nd.

  9. Thanks so much for highlighting my macaroons Poppy!
I’m totally bundling up in layers right now. Resisting the heating too. It is a little warmer today thank goodness.

  10. Yum! Yum! Thanks for sharing 🙂

Wonderful recipes! I’m looking forward to autumn as well. It’s my favorite!

  12. That biscuit and jam looks yummers! As I get older, I fall more in love with Autumn every year. As a child I always loved Summer, but now that I live in Florida, the summers are just unbearable. There’s nothing like waking up to a crisp cool morning and having something warm to eat or drink to start off your day 🙂

    • Poppy says:

I’m the same, even in the British summer which is nowhere near as hot as a Florida summer – I find myself seeking shade more and more! I find it uncomfortable! 😀

  13. It’s all looking great! Any excuse to the comfort food going is a good one for us and Autumn is just the beginning, soups, stews, casseroles bring it on!

  14. Hey Poppy! The cool weather hasn’t hit us in SoCal yet, but it will come soon enough. These recipes look delish! I’m so gonna make that Pumpkin Apple Peach Jam. Celeste 🙂

  15. Hi Poppy! I love your recipes and blog! Thanks for liking a lot of my posts. I’m looking forward to following you and exploring this amazing assortment of vegan/vegetarian food.
