“So I am living without fats, without meat, without fish, but am feeling quite well this way. It always seems to me that man was not born to be a carnivore.” Albert Einstein from a letter written to Hans Muehsam, and dated March 30, 1954.
“Although I have been prevented by outward circumstances from observing a strictly vegetarian diet, I have long been an adherent to the cause in principle. Besides agreeing with the aims of vegetarianism for aesthetic and moral reasons, it is my view that a vegetarian manner of living by its purely physical effect on the human temperament would most beneficially influence the lot of mankind.” Albert Einstein. Translation of letter to Hermann Huth, December 27, 1930. Einstein Archive 46-756
“Our task must be to free ourselves…by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.” Albert Einstein
“Nothing will benefit human health and increase the chances for survival of life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.” Albert Einstein
Remember that super fast, yeast free, rise free pizza I contributed to the Virtual Vegan Potluck?
Here is my favourite version with basil pesto base, aubergine slices, portabello mushroom slices and onions.
I adore aubergine on pizza. 🙂
I’d never tried it before this and I loved it so much!!
Holy goodness that pizza looks amazing. I’m now wishing pizza night was tonight and not tomorrow in our household!
Looks yummy! I am inspired to try making a gluten-free pizza. Thanks for sharing.
Wow!! thats a beautiful looking pie!
That looks so good, it’s going on the meal plan right away!
Great quotes from Einstein. And I must make pesto pizza with caramelised onions!
Delish! I’m now strangely in the mood for pizza.
I am not even a huge fan of eggplant, and yet this looks mouthwatering! As always, Poppy, your recipes are amazing.
I have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. Feel free to accept it here. 🙂
Sophia, that is so wonderful, thank you so very much!! 😀
You’re so welcome! 🙂
Thanks for sharing! I think I’ll make some pizza some time. Just need to go out and get gf flour.
It’s so easy and delicious, you won’t regret getting the flour! 😀
Thank you!! 😀
I absolutely love those quotes. I find it very difficult to stay on the vegetarian wagon when everyone around me is omnivorous. It’s good to know there are others out there. 🙂
Hi Casey, yes I love them too!
It’s hard for me to understand where you are coming from as I have been a vegetarian since I was so young. Although I think you should not be influenced too much by others and follow what you feel is right and/or what choices you want to make.
Thank you for your comment. 😀
I’m jealous you were raised that way! 🙂 I am very confident in my diet choices, but it’s hard when you go over to friends’ homes and everything has chicken and beef in it. 😦
I wasn’t raised that way! My parents weren’t vegetarians, I simply made a choice and stood my ground. Why don’t you just tell friends beforehand that you don’t eat meat and would like something without? If you are arriving unexpectedly, you could always just have the vegetables and potatoes etc served along side of the meat?
Oh, I guess I just assumed since you had been doing it since a very young age. That’s so cool that you stood your ground despite your age! 🙂
I think I perhaps made it sound like they were tempting me to change… totally not what I meant. Just meant that it’s sometimes tough to stay strict with myself, but I think it’s totally worth it. 🙂
Yes many people assume that! I was exposed to farming at a young age so simply knew that I would not eat that little lamb or chicken!
My dad is now a vegetarian though!
Yes it is absolutely worth it, for your own health and for animals 😀
Just had a peek at your recipe page, some yummy sounding treats 😀
That’s so awesome that you could end up leaving such a lasting impact on your dad! My friends and family have become more open to it once I started cooking and showing them how vegetarians can eat much more than salads and barley. 😉 There are so many misconceptions about the lifestyle that are out there.
And thanks for checking out my recipes page! I really enjoy your site! 🙂
Aww thank you!
Yes absolutely, the ‘rabbit food’ judgement is a classic! It’s great that your family and friends are more open to it now! 😀
Love, love, love those Einstein quotes!! Of course the pizza looks fab too!! Celeste 🙂
I know aren’t they just incredible!! Thank you 😀
Wow! Looks great and so are the quotes!
I love these quotes!
